The Skocjan Caves are not a quick stop. The underground canyon of the Reka River is one of the largest in the world.

Tickets and timing

Book online at visit.skcocjanske-jame.si - tickets are timed and the morning slots fill quickly in summer.

What to wear

The temperature inside the caves is a constant 12C, even in August. Bring a warm layer and closed, non-slip shoes.

How to combine it with the rest of the Karst

Skocjan works well as the centrepiece of a full day. Start with the caves in the morning, then drive to the Lipica Stud Farm (25 minutes) for the afternoon.

Getting there

The caves are signposted from the Divaca exit on the A1 motorway, about 15 minutes from our apartment. Parking is free.
